Second Quarter

On November 5, 2007 we started our Second Quarter. By now, you should be typing at least 20 words per minute (if you never had Keyboarding Lessons before your Sophomore Year) or at least 40 words per minute (if you already had some Keyboarding Lessons before your Sophomore Year). If you're not there yet, I need you to go back to the Alphabetic Keyboarding Lessons and repeat at least ten of these. The more you practice the better you'll type.

If you're already doing the Keyboarding Skill Builder Lessons, I expect you to type at least 35 words per minute with less than 6 errors. If not, you also have to repeat some Alphabetic Keyboarding Lessons until you acquire this speed. We have been concentrating on Accuracy - but I need you to start acquiring a faster speed.

Goals for this Quarter: To continue working with emphasis on Accuracy while starting to concentrate on Speed as well. You should envision 40 words per minute with less than 6 errors and less than 6 backspaces. By the end of this quarter those who never took Keyboarding Lessons before should be typing at least 30 words per minute, and those who took lessons previously at least 40 words per minute.

If you're still making too many mistakes (more than 6) and backspacing too many times (more than 6), you should try to slow down. Repeat the lessons several times - this is not a COMPETITION! Challenge yourself! You know where you are and it's up to you to get better!

Test: Remember that on November 19, 2007 we will have our PowerPoint Test. There will also be a timing on that test. Please study the papers I gave you on PowerPoint ("Creating a PowerPoint Presentation", "PowerPoint" (describing the elements of the PowerPoint Window)and "The PowerPoint Views". Also review the instructions on how to create a PowerPoint Presentation using the Outline Pane.

I will check your PowerPoint Assignments (that you did while I was at Kairos) - "Planning Presentation" (changed to "Planning Pres with Transitions")and "Networking" (Outline).

Keyboarding Assignment: Do the "Measurement Writings" of Lessons A through E with Focus: Accuracy. This is a good practice for the Test.
