Creating a Business Project

This month of December we will be working on a Group Project: "Creating a Business" also known as "SBA Project" (SMALL BUSINESS ADVENTURERS). We will create a small business called "Stocking Stuffers, Inc." This is a fictional business that provides products and services around the Christmas holiday. They have a small shop that sells ornaments, stockings, various stocking stuffers, gift wrap, Christmas cards and other assorted Christmas goodies and gifts. The week before Christmas, they have a coloring contest for children, cookies with Santa on location, Christmas contests, and sleigh rides. The business is located in Crown Center at 2450 Grand Boulevard in Kansas City, MO 64108. The phone number is 816-555-2000 (you can come up with your own address and phone number, and create a website name and e-mail address). You will create the following:

o Logo (to be used on all projects)
o Business Cards/Letterhead/Envelopes
o Coloring Book Page
o Wrapping Paper Sample
o Last Minute Christmas Special Flyer
o Christmas Photo Card and Christmas Cards (assortment – at least three)
o Newsletter

You will work in groups of two. Please read the project document very carefully (you can find it in Keyboarding M under Stocking Stuffers, Inc. We will work mostly using the Microsoft Publisher Program. Microsoft Word and Paint can also be used. You will start creating a logo for your company. Check the websites listed on Page 5 to see samples of logos. Think of ideas and come up with your own design (which should incorporate an AutoShape, Text, a "slogan" and ClipArt). Get creative!

You will have a Pocket Folder, where you will keep all your work. Please keep the papers in order and return the folder to Mrs. Feld at the end of class. You will work quietly and efficiently. The whole project should be completed by December 19, 2008 - before our Christmas Vacation. Mrs. Feld will give you instructions at the beginning of each class period.

Thanks for your cooperation and for working in an efficient manner. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Mrs. Feld.
